Evacuation Alert Rescinded

On May 4, 2020 an the Village of Lumby issued an Evacuation Alert to specific properties in Lumby primarily located along Duteau, Harris and Bessette creeks.  The Village has monitored the creek levels on a daily basis.  The Village has been in communication with EMBC (Central PREOC), Environment Canada, BC River Forecast Centre, and FLNRO (Water Stewardship) to ensure they are informed on snow pack levels, weather and upcoming weather related events, current creek and creek tributary levels that then inform the local authorities on how to best prepare for and inform residents on potential flooding in their local areas.

On June 9, 2020 the Evacuation Alert was rescinded.  It is recommended that property owners remain vigilant in protecting their properties as rain events can cause localized flooding.
